Join us for tea, freshly-baked cakes and sandwiches to launch the Coniston Institute’s summer workshop programme which will animate the Institute’s outdoor spaces through a variety of multi-generational activities including outdoor cookery classes, tile making, construction and local rejuvenation projects to engage all members of Coniston’s community.

At 12.30pm, a presentation documenting the history of Coniston’s own ‘Riverdale Miniature Village’ and its creator, John Usher (1940 – 1993) will introduce the Small is Beautiful: Usher Miniature Village Renovation workshops. Led by local artist Karen Guthrie, over a series of afternoons throughout August, the workshops will invite local enthusiasts to become caretakers of this much loved local landmark, mending dislodged stonework, re-painting windows and doors and sprucing up the landscaping.

*All proceeds raised from the coffee morning will go towards the restoration and preservation of Riverdale, the Usher Miniature Village
