Developed during a series of children’s workshops with artist Rudy Kanhye, this pop-up cafe will serve a variety of dishes which will be prepared and served by the children who participated in the workshops. On the menu will be a variety of wood-fired pizzas and breads, seasonal soup, rabbit pie, clafoutis apple tarts and more. You’ll be hosted by the workshop participants and dine on bespoke tableware which they created during the workshops using a variety of natural dyeing processes and vegetable printing.
Celebrating the golden years of Coniston Youth Club’s outstanding culinary collaborations, on the night they will also be launch The New Mechanics Seasonal Cook Book, a chatty mouth-watering illustrated collection of their seasonal recipes, from spam sushi to rabbit stew (and some vegan alternatives are included, of course). Two decades of making and sharing memorable food for international art projects, for local events and for fun, the wide-ranging and easy recipes join additions from recent workshops with artist Rudy Kanhye, whose enthusiasm has spurred us on to complete this long awaited publication.

*All proceeds raised from the café and book sales will go back into the youth programme budget to run further activities for young people in Coniston and the Crake Valley.
