The Main Hall is a large versatile space, with a stage and wooden floor, which makes it an ideal venue for concerts, ceilidhs and parties. It can accommodate 200 people in theatre style or 150 in cabaret style. The hall is fully equipped with chairs and trestle tables. The Main Hall is a popular space for weddings receptions and the stage is ideal for live music events.
The Reading Room can accommodate up to 40 people seated. It has a ceiling mounted projector and pull down screen which can be used for talks and presentations. The space is regularly used for civic meetings, social events and fundraising activities. It also has a piano which is used regularly by the Coniston Community Choir.
The Kitchen has been installed to a professional standard. Fully equipped with an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge & freezer plus a plate warmer and hot water urn. We also have cutlery and crockery available. The Kitchen is booked in conjunction with either the Reading Room or the Main Hall.
The Library operates a self-service system for those wishing to borrow books. Register with Cumbria Libraries in advance to do so. If you are a visitor, you are welcome to sit and browse the stock. There is a Local Interest reference section full of historic and contemporary books on the local area and culture.
The Library has free wifi and can be booked for small meetings and study groups all day on Tuesdays & Thursdays and after 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.

The Coniston Institute is unmanned. You will be responsible for the setting out and clearing down of your room. Room hires are very often booked back to back, so please bear this in mind when booking the room as you will need to factor in time to set up and clear down, please book enough time for this and not just the time length of the meeting/event.
